Types of swimming lane lines

During a swimming competition, it is important to separate each lane to monitor each athlete’s progress and determine the final result.
For this reason, Patentverwag has designed different type of products for every necessity:

  • Comp/S lane lines: engineered for competitions, Comp/S lane lines feature toothed, segmented floats for continuous alignment and minimal risk of breakage. Smooth edges protect swimmers during dives and turns. Available in three diameters and customizable colors, they comply with official sports regulations.
  • Anti-Wave Pool Lane Lines: this lane lines provide seamless wave-breaking performance for training and recreational pools. Vibrant colors can be customized to match your pool’s design while ensuring clear lane visibility.
  • NO-Wave Swimming Lane Lines: feature uniquely shaped floats that combine functionality with modern design, reducing waves and enhancing the aesthetic of your pool with lane lines.

Swimming pool lane dividers and regulations

Proper installation of swimming pool lane dividers is crucial to ensure safety, compliance and optimal hydrodynamic performance:

  • Floats typically range from 100 to 150 mm in diameter to achieve effective wave absorption.
  • Each rope must be tensioned correctly, typically around 1–1.2 kN, to maintain stability along the entire lane.
  • The last 5 meters of each lane should be marked in red to signal the approach to the wall.
  • Standard 8-lane competition pools adopt colour coding for visibility: green for outer lanes, blue for intermediate lanes, and yellow for the central lanes.

These guidelines enhance visibility for swimmers, judges and spectators while ensuring consistent performance across all lanes.

Choosing the right lane lines for your pool

When selecting lane lines for swimming pools, consider key aspects such as diameter, materials, internal cable and anchoring system. Larger floats guarantee better wave reduction but require more storage space; materials like polypropylene with UV stabilisers ensure durability; an AISI 316 stainless-steel cable offers high tensile strength; and a reliable anchoring system ensures correct tensioning.

Whether you need permanent or temporary pool lane lines, Patentverwag provides durable, safe and visually striking solutions for all pool dimensions and needs, ensuring impeccable separation and stability for every swimming pool lane.
